Bidemi, a pregnant woman, was admitted to the Odeyinka Community Health Centre, a primary healthcare facility. On the day of her admission, she gave birth to a baby boy. Unfortunately, due to severe blood loss and the center’s lack of adequate medical equipment to manage her condition, she was referred to another hospital in Ikire town. Despite this transfer, Bidemi’s family was dissatisfied with her care at the second hospital. In a desperate bid to save her, her husband decided to take her to their hometown in Cotonou, Benin Republic, for better medical attention. Tragically, Bidemi passed away en route to Cotonou, one week after giving birth. Heartbreakingly, her newborn son also died three days later.
