Another milestone for the Gulf of Maine’s floating offshore wind future! Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Environmental Review of Gulf of Maine Offshore Wind Research proposed lease activities found to have no significant impacts - a major step in advancing the #GulfofMaine #FloatingOffshoreWind Research Array. The Research Array will be comprised of up to 12 floating offshore wind turbines capable of generating up to 144 megawatts of hashtag #renewableenergy and will use the University of Maine’s VolturnUS technology. #ClimateImpact ~47,599 homes powered ~504,576 metric tons/year CO2 Emissions Avoided During #AFloat24, attendees can tour of the UMaine Advanced Structures & Composites Center, a 100,000 sqft research laboratory where the #VolturnUS and #Volturnus hull technology was design and tested. The tour will include a demonstration in our scale model wind and wave ocean simulator, the worlds largest thermoplastic 3D printer and more!
