This is ORALE’s inaugural class of our Economic Liberation Project 🙌 These are the aspiring entrepreneurs who will learn the ins and outs of creating your own business in the city of Long Beach! These 25 Long Beach residents will work in partnership with Pacific Gateway to ensure that they are fully set up with licenses and all paperwork needed to run a successful business! We are thrilled to share that The James Irvine Foundation Board of Directors approved $22.6 million in grants last week! The grants will support the work of Community Partners, ÓRALE: Organizing Rooted in Abolition, Liberation, and Empowerment, USC Equity Research Institute, New Energy Nexus, Torrez Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians, Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation, Valley Entrepreneur Alliance, Ventures, Common Counsel Foundation, Capitol Impact, Amalgamated Foundation, Charitable Ventures, Humboldt Area Foundation, Neighborhood Funders Group, and the The LIFT Fund.  The Foundation also provided $13.4 million in grants this quarter that did not require approval.  Learn more: https://irvine.ly/3TohPey 

To say that I’m proud of my best friend and wife Nancy Pacheco-Cadranel is an understatement. In the face of working full time at the library and raising our precious son, she has been equally committed to advancing herself and her profession. She makes an impact on her community every day. FX--Frequent Express--is living up to its name and getting riders to their destinations faster. A study commissioned by the Federal Highway Administration found FX2-Division riders saved up to 8 minutes in roundtrip travel time between Gresham and Southeast Portland. That's about a 20% decrease over the previous Line 2 bus service.

I started TaxDrop X years ago, all depending on when you would consider the "start" of a business: ideation, business #1, legal formation, pivot, going full time. TaxDrop has served me, my team, our clients, and the community really well during its time. It was born out of a desire to take a modern spin on an otherwise traditional accounting industry. It was like therapy for business: identifying what our values were and incorporating the personality of everyone on our team, which we endearingly found was tied together by a commonality in energy, tenacity, and teamwork. We are now SO EXCITED to present to you Alice.CPA. Like a beloved teddy bear, we've outgrown what the TaxDrop can provide. Our business and team has grown up and evolved, and we needed a brand that would reflect our services and energy today. The tennis ball yellow that was chosen occured at the same time as the US Open this year, a fitting vibrant color that emanates energy and a very back and forth process that is a financial statement audit. Like calling out "Alexa" or "Hey Siri...", I hope Alice.CPA becomes synonymous with accounting. Today, we provide financial due diligence for startups when they are raising capital. Tomorrow, we'll be doing the same thing. But metaphoric tomorrow!!! -- I am excited to launch new business lines together with the team.
