There is no better way to learn what is working and where we can get better than to get out into warehouses and talk to our team, problem solving and hearing their ideas. My favorite part of a visit is watching our team help consumers discover new products through sampling. Yoshi in the Costco Willingdon, Vancouver warehouse is a master behind the teppanyaki grill, serving up hot and tasty food, explaining the product, answering questions and charming everyone. She is one of many amazing CDS associates I was honored to meet in Vancouver this week.

With retail snack and candy dollar sales tracking 4.2% over last year, private brands continue to be an opportunity in the category, according to a recent report in Supermarket News. “Private brand innovation, whether that’s limited-edition finds, seasonal programs, better-for-you varieties or even dynamically paired flavors, helps retailers drive traffic and build customer loyalty,” says Tracy DeCarlo of Daymon, a division of Advantage Solutions. As more and more grocery shoppers are turning to club stores and mass retailers to manage costs, a new Advantage Solutions survey uncovers an emerging trend: Shoppers are buying in bulk and splitting the purchases with their family and friends. Our key findings include: 🛒 One-third of shoppers are buying in bulk and sharing. 🛒 Over 75% of these shoppers share with family members. 🛒 More than a third are visiting mass retailers more frequently, and 17% are shopping at club stores more.
