“I'm a firm believer in putting your hands where your heart is – taking action with causes you truly care about.” – Rachel Jones, Vice President, Public Affairs and Sustainability at AdvanSix. Like Rachel, we’re passionate about environmental stewardship and making a difference in our local communities, most recently cleaning up part of the Lower Appomattox River with FOLAR - Friends of the Lower Appomattox River. I'm a firm believer in putting your hands where your heart is – taking action with causes you truly care about. My driving force has always been to leave the world better than we found it, and that includes our rivers. Recently, some of my AdvanSix teammates and I joined the FOLAR - Friends of the Lower Appomattox River team to help clean-up a local blueway-greenway. I brought along two of my nieces and, what could have felt like a boring chore, ended up being a great day of bonding filled with laughter and smiles. We turned picking up trash into a fun game – competing to find the weirdest or grossest thing thrown where it shouldn’t be! (PM me for the details on the winning finds. 😏) What made this day special wasn’t just the impact we made, but the thoughts and conversations it sparked afterward. A few days later, one of my nieces dropped a candy wrapper and suddenly, that small action had a whole new meaning for her. We may have cleaned up a bit of the river that day, but the ripple effect goes far beyond. #itallstartswith #sustainability #LeaveItBetter #RiverCleanup
