  • The P-TEACH program is inspiring and preparing the next generation of educators right here in Adams 12 Five Star Schools. Through concurrent enrollment courses with CU Denver, students gain early college credit while learning from exemplary teachers within our schools. Participants also engage in hands-on internship experiences, honing their skills and passion for teaching. Not only are we inspiring high school students, but P-TEACH has also opened doors for our paraeducators, instructional classified staff, and BASE employees to pursue their passion for education and take steps toward teacher licensure. As a new initiative, P-TEACH aims to be a transformational force in shaping the future of education in the Five Star District. #ELEVATESuccess #FiveStarProud

  • All Adams 12 Five Star Schools 8th graders participated in the Adams County Career Expo on September 17 and 18 at Riverdale Regional Park. To prepare for the event, school counselors helped students explore their interests and careers and learn about handshakes, dress, and communication skills to talk to business and industry partners. Students showed up excited and nervous to meet new people, experience hands-on activities and learn about exciting career pathways. FutureForward Bollman and Washington Square students also attended to staff some booths and teach 8th graders about career pathways they are engaged. Empowering students to be future-ready and architects of their lives! #ELEVATESuccess #FiveStarProud

  • These Blueprint Funding Proposals have resulted from more than a year-long engagement process to identify the community’s values and priorities for schools across the district. The bond investment (Ballot Issue 5E) would support building needs at every school. We will update school connectivity to maintain critical school safety features, phone service, and Internet access. • Thornton High School has a long tradition of empowering our Latina students through partnership with the Latinas First Foundation. Since the opening of the Newcomer Center last year in 2023, we are expanding that tradition by connecting students from within the Newcomer Center and those in the larger THS population to this organization. On September 13, Kelsey Barnes (THS G/T Advocate and Academic Coordinator) and Rae Ann Armijo (Newcomer Center Counselor) took a group of accomplished Latina students to the annual Latinas First Lunch. The motto of this organization is "Girls Can Be What They Can See." This statement rang especially true as a Lorena Vergara Gomez, a 2023 graduate of Thornton High and a previous student at the Newcomer Center was recognized for winning a scholarship to the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. We were thrilled that some of our current students with big dreams were able to meet a former student that is making her own big dream a reality. #ELEVATESuccess #FiveStarProud

  • Guacamole Day was the perfect way to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations at Pathways Future Center! A group of parents hosted a guacamole-making demonstration that was streamed to the entire school. Every classroom enjoyed guacamole and chips while following along with the demonstration and received a copy of the guacamole recipe. A special thank you to our guests for joining us: Matt Schmidt, Executive Director of Secondary Options and Innovative Programming; Marie McKenzie, Executive Director of Equity and Engagement; and Manuel Gonzalez, Equity and Engagement Coordinator. We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the parents who dedicated their time to be with us and share their delicious guacamole. Additionally, a big shout-out to the students who decorated our kitchen and created beautiful gift bags for the parents and guests. #ELEVATESuccess #FiveStarProud

  • Mr. Lombardo, Washington Square EMT instructor, has built a program where students from his class are working in the medical field around the metro area, former students hold roles as EMT’s, Nurses, and Instructors themselves. One valuable tool he utilizes allows students to shadow him and other Stadium Medical EMTs and Paramedics at concerts all across the Denver metro area. Students From Washington Square can sign up for concerts and events to work the shows in the first aid stations assisting and experiencing unscripted real situations. Our students are encouraged to jump in and take vitals, hook up monitors and assist in many tasks from grabbing band aids to helping move patients and even transporting patients to the hospital. As their learning builds, the students can start to take the lead by initiating the patient contact and gathering information, by asking the right questions in the right situation and following the correct procedure for the situation, while being supported by professionals in the field. This provides a very unique and authentic learning experience for our students. #ELEVATESuccess #FiveStarProud

  • On September 11th, Centennial celebrated Hero Day. Organized by our awesome custodian, Elias Martinez, staff and students gathered for an assembly where we heard from some amazing everyday heroes in our community. We felt so lucky to hear from members of the Broomfield Police Department and SWAT team, plumbers, electricians, and veterans from the Air Force and Navy. Students then participated in a parade around the building to say thank you to the heroes with cards and letters, while our heroes shared their vehicles. This partnership with our community allows our students to learn more about how people in our community help them, and it gave them an opportunity to share their gratitude. Thank you to our community heroes for working hard to help others and for keeping our community safe! #ELEVATESuccess #FiveStarProud
