We design & deliver inclusive, anti-bias, rigorous approaches, removing gaps between children's potential & achievement.

About us

We design & deliver inclusive, anti-bias, & rigorous approaches to eliminate gaps between young children’s inherent potential & their achievement in school. Acelero Learning was founded in 2001 by a former Head Start teacher and Children Defense Fund staffer, with a clear mission -- to work with local communities to improve the quality of Head Start programs. In 2005, Acelero Learning began to directly administer Early Head Start and Head Start programs through delegate agencies -- locally managed affiliates with their own local boards of directors that received dedicated support from the Acelero Learning Support Center in New York. Today, Acelero Learning affiliates operate a network of Head Start and other early childhood programs serving nearly 5,000 young children and families across the country. Our affiliates in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Camden, Monmouth and Middlesex Counties in New Jersey, Clark County, Nevada and Racine and Milwaukee counties in Wisconsin have each improved the delivery of early childhood education in their communities -- increasing enrollment, improving teacher salaries and dramatically expanding the number of hours of programming for children and families.

Summer is the perfect time to spark creativity in our little ones with fun, simple art projects, especially for our Head Start kiddos. From painting to drawing, there are endless ways to encourage imaginative play and creative expression. Ideas like chalk drawing, handprint art, and nature collages can get you started. Every activity is a chance for children to be imaginative, develop fine motor skills, and learn through play. #AceleroLearning #HeadStart #Summer

Today, we honor Juneteenth—a celebration of freedom and a call for justice and equality. Also known as Freedom Day, this day marks the emancipation of the last remaining enslaved African Americans in the Confederacy on June 19, 1865, and provides a chance to delve into the often overlooked aspects of U.S. history. It's a day to celebrate and deeply appreciate African American history. Together, we can build a future rooted in equality for all. Happy Juneteenth!

This month, at one of our Acelero Learning Centers, the children jumped into a world of creativity and teamwork at the center’s first-ever Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Reconstructed Robot Event. They turned old stuff into cool robots, showing how creative they are. These activities aren't just fun—they also teach little ones about taking care of the planet and coming up with new ideas.

Last week on May 3, we celebrated School Lunch Hero Day! Now we’re spotlighting Damaris Mendez from Acelero Learning Commerce Center, whose story exemplifies the dedication and care that makes a true School Lunch Hero. During a recent visit to Acelero Learning Commerce Center in North Brunswick, NJ, Damaris Mendez, Food Service Worker, demonstrated the dedication and care that Henry Wilde, our CEO, speaks of and we all recognize and applaud. Several years ago, when Damaris received the call from Acelero informing her that her daughter had been accepted, she learned that she could not prepare and send food for her daughter. This posed a dilemma for Damaris, who was committed to ensuring her child's meals were healthy and prepared with care. After a spirited discussion with her family advocate, Damaris asked about job opportunities in the kitchen; if she could not prepare and send from home, then perhaps she would work in the kitchen and prepare foods for all children at the center. Even though her daughter has graduated from the program, Damaris continues to cook heathy meals with love and care and we're so grateful for her dedication and leadership. #EmployeeSpotlight #SchoolLunchHeroDay
