There is a lot we can learn from others who are of different cultural backgrounds. And in discovering more about the customs, traditions, and other aspects of what makes each culture unique, many would likely agree that it’s hard not to get especially excited about the food! So, as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month this fall, why not take the opportunity to support one of your local Latinx-owned restaurants? Here are a few recommendations from the Accelerate team: - Tortilleria Garcia; multiple Cincinnati-area locations (https://lnkd.in/gYUEn2iP) - Magnifico Coffee Roasters; Avondale, Chicago (https://lnkd.in/gAAsAmtW) - Fajita Pete’s; Wilmette, Illinois (https://lnkd.in/gyZm5gAb) #HispanicHeritageMonth #HispanicHeritageMonth2024

With it currently being Hispanic Heritage Month, one great way to celebrate is by setting aside time to explore some of Latinx authors’ many important contributions to the literary world. With this sentiment mind, members of the Accelerate Institute team have shared a few of their favorites as of late. If you’re looking forward to your next good read, why not add these titles to your list?! Here’s what the Accelerate team selected: - “Violeta,” by Isabel Allende (https://lnkd.in/gE94Dy_Z) - “Anita de Monte Laughs Last,” by Xóchitl González (https://lnkd.in/g2BvxzrZ) - “Malas,” by Marcela Fuentes (https://lnkd.in/g2PkSRnc) - “La Ciudad En Que No Estás: Cuentos Reunidos (in English: The Ghost of You)," by Margarita Saona (https://lnkd.in/g_GWXeeS) #HispanicHeritageMonth #HispanicHeritageMonth2024

What’s the first step that sets the necessary foundation for ensuring the students you serve as a school leader are aligned for academic success? The answer is getting the culture right among the adults in your school building. We know how important organizational culture is for success, but executing on what can be a seriously daunting undertaking is often easier said than done. Over at Carroll-Rosenwald Elementary School in Chicago, Accelerate Institute Principal Juwana Foster-Wells welcomed students and teachers back to school this year with music, dancing, and a snow cone truck. Talk about starting the year off with JOY! As we all get back into the swing of things, we’d like to extend a very warm welcome back and are wishing for the very best for all of you! Here at Accelerate Institute, we believe people are our schools’ greatest resource. That’s why our professional development programming is centered around one singular goal: promoting strong school leader retention by developing and supporting the best possible people for the job. In the recent PDK Poll on Public Attitudes Toward Public Education, the results helped illustrate the American public’s priorities are very much the same when it comes to education. Although we’re far too often divided on many of the most important issues, for education, “attracting and retaining good teachers” was a top priority from respondents. According to the poll, more than 80% of Americans named this goal — as well as getting students ready to enter the workforce — as top priorities for the next presidential administration following the November election. To discover Americans’ other leading educational priorities, explore the findings of the PDK Poll now. https://lnkd.in/g94Q_xAZ
