As more people use GLP-1s for weight loss, we're thinking a lot about side effects. We're particularly interested in solutions to complement GLP-1s, such as products that support muscle mass or behavioral health. If you're doing work in this space, what other wraparound services are you thinking about? 🌟 #HealthTech #Innovation #SustainableHealth #GLP1 https://lnkd.in/ej95g89u

I've been doing research at Able Partners into the decline in attendance of four year colleges to understand the implications of this trend and investable areas of opportunity. One surprising finding? It's largely men driving the drop in enrollment. Women's enrollment rates in college continue to go up, while the number of men attending and graduating from college drops each year. Are you doing work in this space? I'd love to chat.

We’re thrilled to announce that Zócalo Health has secured additional capital to enhance our rapidly growing Medicaid strategy. We are grateful to have the support Acumen America, Ganas Ventures, and several new and existing investors. Our team is doing incredible work across California, addressing the needs of some of the most complex members in MediCal. With this new funding, we are expanding our teams of Promotoras de Salud, Community Outreach Specialists, and Therapists. Additionally, we are actively seeking key leadership roles in Product, Community Outreach, Growth, and Strategic Partnerships. If you or someone you know is passionate about serving the Latinx community and building healthcare pa’ la gente, please reach out. ¡Vamos! (Thanks for your support: Able Partners, ANIMO Ventures, Kapor Center, VamosVentures, Growing Well Partners, Nikhil Krishnan, Foster Foundation, Sorensen Institute)
We recently added a new company to our health portfolio with an investment in Zócalo Health. Zócalo is a digital healthcare platform that provides Latinos with culturally competent and community-oriented care. Nearly 1-in-5 Latinos are uninsured and 58% say they prefer a Spanish speaking doctor. Co-founders Erik Cardenas and Mariza H. started Zócalo to give the Latino community simpler access to healthcare. The start-up provides patients access to primary care, behavioral health, social services, care coordination, complex care management, and urgent care. The company uses community health workers to engage and build trust with Latino patients and help Medicaid payors—31.4% of Medicaid beneficiaries nationwide identify as Hispanic—better serve a large and underserved demographic. At Acumen America, we are always looking for companies with a specific focus on impact. Zócalo’s vision aligns with our goals to increase access to healthcare for a growing and historically marginalized population by leveraging tech-enabled solutions with a community focus. Zócalo currently operates in Texas, California, and Washington and is looking to expand to more states. Learn more about Zócalo at: https://www.zocalo.health/

Climate change is coming for our chocolate supply. Adverse weather patterns have sent cocoa prices skyrocketing. Our latest blog highlights our strategic investment in a lab-grown chocolate company, pioneering a sustainable future for the confectionery industry. 🍫🌱
With cocoa prices doubling this year, my #chocolate obsession has become a concern. Climate change, unethical labor practices, and crop diseases are putting my favorite superfood at risk. We share some thoughts on the cocoa crisis and our motivation behind backing California Cultured Inc.’s innovative solution in our piece below. Skin cancers are the most common cancer across the U.S. and the world. Our co-founder, Amanda Eilian, was diagnosed with melanoma in 2010 after doctors initially dismissed her concerns. At Able Partners, we invest in health and wellness companies that put the consumer first. As an investor and entrepreneur, Amanda began investing in health and wellness companies that encourage people to be proactive about their health. Soon after her diagnosis, Amanda joined the board of the Melanoma Research Alliance. She hopes her experience inspires others to advocate for themselves and prioritize their health. https://lnkd.in/eF6qC9Sh #HealthAndWellness #CancerAwareness #Melanoma #ProactiveHealth #InvestingInHealth
