Today, we held an “ABC11 Together Community Conversations” meeting with government, education, business, and nonprofit leaders in Fayetteville, NC to hear first hand how we’re doing and what we’re missing. Our team came away with a new appreciation for the dynamic growth across the Sand Hills region and these leaders commitment to helping us tell positive stories about the growth. Thank you to Fayetteville Technical Community College for providing the great meeting space.

I wanted to take a moment to congratulate Anthony Wilson on his impending retirement from ABC11 WTVD-TV. Anthony has achieved iconic status at ABC11 as a creative storyteller, morning anchor, community advocate, mentor and friend. Most impressively Anthony has mentored countless young journalists as a leader of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). Many of those mentees are now leaders in local news, on screen and behind the scenes. This photo was taken circa 2015 when I was off to new adventures at KABC Channel 7 Eyewitness News and Anthony was celebrating my success - just like he has generously celebrated others over the years. Anthony’s license plate used to read “Jazz Fan”, and now he will have more time to slow down and enjoy the tunes.
