Did you know that over a billion people worldwide lack access to basic vision care? In developing countries, this challenge is particularly acute, with over 800 million people with presbyopia that simply need reading glasses to improve their quality of life. To tackle this critical need, innovative collaborations are emerging to provide new solutions. We've partnered with Healthy Entrepreneurs and RestoringVision, supported by the Million Lives Collective and Bayer Foundation, to measure the impact of a program aimed at addressing vision impairments in underserved communities in Uganda. We spoke with Mark Lorey from RestoringVision, Juliette Van Halst from Healthy Entrepreneurs and Olivia Elson from Results for Development to get a first-hand perspective on the 60dB impact data gathered from the pilot. A huge shout out to everyone who made this project possible: Jacob Thamarappally, Ramiro Rejas, Aayushi Kachalia, Sanjana Singh, Millicent Magak, Stefan Wilhelm, Jacob Gomez, Anna Giulia Ponchia, anna vos, Jonah Ngobi. 🏆 We won the Judges Award at the Africa Impact Summit! We are thrilled to be recognized alongside inspiring organizations such as Phatisa, Inspired Evolution, Africa GreenCo, Villgro Africa, eBee.africa and Sahel Capital ! We believe that the best way to understand social impact is to talk to the people experiencing it. It sounds obvious, but isn’t the typical practice for many impact investors, corporations, and foundations working to create social change. Our approach turns direct conversations with customers into high-quality impact data – data that helps organizations learn and improve. This award is another proof point that credible impact measurement can be both simple and scalable. Get in touch to find out how we can support your next project: https://lnkd.in/e-PUSvE8 A large and ongoing thank you to our team, our researchers and the organizations we work alongside – together we are turning listening into action.

We've just launched our Small Business Barometer Report – Indonesia, a collaboration between Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, Mercy Corps Indonesia and the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas Republic of Indonesia. The report uncovers three critical hurdles for Indonesian Micro and Small-Sized Enterprises (MSEs): 💻 Digital Literacy: While 81% of MSEs recognize digital tools as vital for growth, 64% struggle to use them effectively. Bridging this gap is essential for their success. 📚 Support Services: While 70% of MSEs see support services as crucial, only one-third have access to them. There’s a high demand for training in finance, digital marketing, and business skills. 💳 Access to Credit: A large proportion of MSEs (62%) think they do not need any credit. Although nearly half of those who sought credit reported no barriers to access, high interest rates (31%) remain substantial barriers. The report findings come from listening directly to owners, senior executives, directors and managers of 835 Indonesian micro and small enterprises between November 2023 and January 2024. The businesses that participated are dispersed across location, size, sector, tenure, and gender – take a closer look at the insights here: https://lnkd.in/eCV7nwuR Andi Ikhwan Andi Dian Roosahandita Christophorus Yudha Danujatmika Nur Hasan Subhashini (Shuba) Chandran Shabnam Akhter Tom Adams Katie Reberg Alison Tan Emilie Terashi Boyer Ian Osuka Vikas S R #indonesia #socialimpact #impactmeasurement
