The versatility and efficiency. All of f the cotton plant is utilized.
Cotton is innovative - cotton as a source of protein 🏆Just recently, researcher Dr. David Fang, Agricultural Research Service U.S. Department of Agriculture, received the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) Researcher of the Year award for breeding a cotton variety that contains low levels of gossypol. Gossypol is incompatible with humans, so the protein-rich seeds cannot be used for human consumption yet. Assuming that an average annual production of 25 million tonnes of fibre results in more than 40 million tonnes of seeds, this is a huge potential source of plant protein. 💡 #cotton #cottonisinnovative #innovation https://lnkd.in/eqDyep_p

Well done Elevate Textiles #nextleaders
Last week, our summer interns gathered to learn more about Elevate’s brands and operations and participated in an executive Gemba with CEO Jeffrey P. Pritchett, CFO Elliott Barker, President, Technical Fabrics, Michael Lyon, and Board Member Thomas Glaser at Burlington Fabrics’s Raeford, NC manufacturing location. They are doing great work this summer, focused on process improvement, R&D, safety, and sustainability initiatives. The future of #textiles is looking bright!

What is YOUR plan for World Cotton Day??
Tick tick tick ... #WorldCottonDay is coming! It's only 81 days away, so we have to ask ... What will YOU be doing on October 7 to celebrate cotton? If you don't have an answer to that question, get moving! The world's most important natural fiber needs your help to ensure that important people — legislators, regulators, brands, and most of all, consumers — are aware of the good that cotton brings to our lives every day. Cotton provides the world with: Poverty alleviation Gender equality Climate resilience CO2 sequestration Biodegradability And don't forget that every piece of cotton apparel that replaces polyester keeps microplastics out of our water, or food chains, and our bodies. Once you make your plans for October 7, be sure to add your event to http://worldcottonday.com. The official website is also where journalists and social media influencers go to learn more about World Cotton Day and generate ideas for their upcoming articles and social media posts. It's definitely the place to be if you want the maximum amount of coverage and exposure for your specific event. And it doesn't have to be big or expensive! Just support cotton in a visible way and encourage others to do so, too. If you have questions, need help creating your entry on the website, or need any other resources (such as the World Cotton Day logo in a particular language), please contact ICAC Director of Communications Mike McCue ([email protected]). He can send you credentials that will allow you to create your own entry on http://worldcottonday.com as well as a copy of the manual that explains how to use the site. October 7th is the biggest day of the year for cotton, and the day it is most visible to brands, retailers, legislators, and media outlets, so it's critical that we do everything we can to ensure the world is aware of the advantages of the world's most important natural fiber.

I am thrilled to share the results of the 2023 regenagri Impact Report. Reaching 10% of total global cotton production in a matter of only several years is a testament to the scaleability and results oriented approach of regenagri and regenerative farming practices. My journey with regenerative agriculture started in a tiny conference room in a Manhattan WeWork with La Rhea Pepper and Brent Crossland in early 2018, where we sat in front of a white board, throwing out ideas, talking about how we could incentivize sustainable cotton farming, while also supporting farmers. From this was borne the idea of an impact incentive. 18 months later, I would join J.Crew Group, leading multiple functions, including Sustainability across the brands J.Crew Madewell. Then the pandemic hit. While most companies backed off their sustainability goals & commitments, we doubled down. This is and was a testament to the commitment of the board, leadership, and the unwavering support of Libby Wadle. In 2021 we embarked on our journey to engage US Cotton farmers, offering this new idea of an impact incentive to support their transition to regenerative farming practices. They were all in, but we needed a certification. Then, our unforgettable dinner in Dublin, Ireland, during the 2021 Textile Exchange conference with many players in the cotton industry, including Franco Costantini where we started the conversation of bringing regenagri to the US. By 2022 we had 26 US farmers signed up and going through the regenagri certification process. By 2023 we added in 4 more farmers from Federation of Southern Cooperatives, rounding out our approach on creating an equitable program. We were focused on bringing this topic to the forefront of our industry, we really wanted to see scale and knew that together we could make it happen. I am immensely proud of this work and everyone who contributed to bringing this to life, the collaboration across the company and industry to get the word out and deliver on a scaleable approach to sustainable cotton farming shows that with the power of the positive, focusing on progress over perfection, we can make an impact. Great news here! Love the progress.

William (Bill) Buckner just said that water is where it’s at. (Note ELICIT PLANT)! Carbon important but water more so. Josette Lewis agreed in almonds with whole orchard recycling (19% better water use efficiency and better soil health and nutrient cycling). Carl Casale emphasized the value of bioinsecticides like Venerate from Pro Farm Group because of the short field re-entry saves labor and leaves no restricted chemical residues. Keith Pitts told a story about microbial contamination (some pathogens) was not coming from their biological but from the synthetic chemical in the mixture!!! But the biological was suspect despite the fact the EPA requires #biopesticides to have zero pathogens.
This is amazing! Well done!!
