Excited to share that the much-awaited book ‘Theories of Change in Reality’ published by Routledge (Taylor & Francis Group) is now out and it includes my chapter in which I unpack 3ie’s very interesting, unique and rewarding experience. I am grateful to the volume editors Andrew Koleros, Marie-Helene ADRIEN Ph.D., and Tony Tyrrell for putting together this immensely useful publication and to IKEA Foundation Social Entrepreneurship for ensuring it is open source and accessible to all. https://bit.ly/3Xw1ypT Why you should read it? Here are three reasons: 1. Theories of change provide a purpose-oriented pathway for impact – this book is a report-out of how it happens and how much it matters to us. 2. Organizations and their strategies evolve more than you think – I share a front-row view of how we built a strong yet agile 3ie that offers real-world solutions in real-time. 3. Our contexts are different and changing and so are the needs we cater to – this offers a great set of diverse perspectives because there is no one way of doing it. Hope you enjoy reading the book and about 3ie’s balloon-squeezing approach. Look forward to hearing your perspectives on the subject.

#Geospatial #impactevaluations offer deeper insights but also come with a unique set of challenges. As part of the #GeoField community of practice, our colleagues at 3ie are finding ways to unpack and address these by collaborating with individuals and organizations working across sectors. In this blog by Fiona Kastel Douglas Glandon Devika Lakhote Sanchi Lokhande and Anca Dumitrescu, we discuss key takeaways from a recent 3ie- AidData DevGlobal workshop on key issues and best practices in Geospatial impact evaluations👇 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gH4_-4rt

Progress towards #SDG7 is mixed. Our latest #EvidenceGapMap with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) finds: 1️⃣ Evidence concentrated around a few intervention categories 2️⃣ Few evaluations for populations where access to electricity is the most limited 3️⃣ The outcome targets – access, efficiency and renewable energy – were evaluated in near equal numbers of evaluations 🔗 Read blog: bit.ly/egmSDG7

📣 Introducing our new #sustainableenergy Evidence Gap Map (EGM) produced with International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) with support from The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) — it’s a breakthrough for the sector! The EGM compiles 703 impact studies of energy interventions in the #GlobalSouth, highlighting the measured outcomes, such as: Carbon emissions 💼 Job creation 🌟Women’s empowerment 🏥 Health benefits 🎉 And much, much more This comprehensive resource is invaluable for partners in the #sustainableenergy movement, providing a robust evidence base to guide future energy access and transition initiatives. The EGM also identifies areas needing further research on energy project impacts, ensuring that organizations committed to achieving #SDG7 use their resources for evaluations on areas that are most valuable to the sector. Explore the EGM now and use its insights to drive sustainable energy solutions forward: https://ow.ly/ElXT50SbQk5 EGM Summary ⬇️

📣 We joined forces with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) to co-produce the first-of-its-kind evidence gap map for the #sustainable #energy sector. It provides an assessment of 668 impact evaluations and 35 systematic reviews from low- and middle-income countries. 🔗 Read our latest blog for key findings on where we find evidence clusters and where absolute gaps still exist. ⤵️ https://bit.ly/egmSDG7 #SDG7 #energysector #energytransition #renewable #sustainable #LetsChangeEnergy #energyaccess #cleanenergy Marie Gaarder | Damilola Ogunbiyi | Quinn Reifmesser | Birte Snilstveit | Constanza Gonzalez Parrao | Cem Yavuz | Freddy Gaved | Zafeer Ravat
