As we wrap up the week, we thought we would post something uplifting! We've shared the statistics: older adults often need occasional assistance; they crave autonomy; and their families worry about their social engagement. Ultimately, it all comes down to fostering connection—and bringing JOY into their lives. #inspiredbyjoy #joy #connection #agetech #community #aginggracefully

Nabors helping older neighbors!
About us
Naborforce's tech enabled platform connects aging adults to a network of “Nabors” for social engagement and on-demand support with errands, transportation and help around the home. Our company and culture is inspired by JOY to promote engaged, productive and connected aging and living. 11,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 EVERY DAY. Naborforce is addressing this growing segment of the market that has been largely unmet to date — aging adults that may not need or be ready for a “caregiver,” but could benefit from light assistance and social connectedness from time to time. ON-DEMAND SERVICES | HOME • ERRANDS • TRANSPORTATION Naborforce is on-call for the things an older adult’s children or neighbors might help with if they were available. Our goal is to take some of the stress away so that they continue to enjoy all that’s most important to them.

A recent third-party survey revealed that 50% of older adults, who do not yet require in-home care, need assistance just a few times a week. This is consistent with what we see at Naborforce. Our average client uses us just a couple of times per week for an hour or two. That small amount of assistance and social engagement is all it takes to help a senior stay connected and in the home they love while providing a small break and peace of mind for their families. We are bridging the gap between those needing minimal help -- where family can easily step in -- and those who require regular, daily assistance, which is best served by traditional home care. #independentaging #agetech #aginginplace #familycaregiving

Adult children are deeply worried about their aging parents feeling lonely. In a recent survey, they prioritized having a resource to keep their parents engaged and connected over assistance with household tasks or rides to appointments. Families are rightly concerned about their aging loved ones’ social engagement. It has been well-documented that loneliness can be as deadly as heart disease or diabetes. Older adults face increased risk of loneliness and social isolation due to factors like distance from family, the loss of friends, and reduced social interactions from giving up driving. Surprisingly, even those living in lively senior living communities can still experience loneliness. As our Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, emphasizes, “We are called to build a movement to mend the social fabric of our nation. It will take all of us. Answer that phone call from a friend. Make time to share a meal. Listen without distractions. Perform an act of service. The keys to human connection are simple yet profoundly impactful.” Or, as one of our Nabors beautifully put it, “It’s the ministry of being present. #socialisolation #loneliness #community #agetech

Independence is often viewed as a goal for older adults, but is that truly what they desire? From the moment we are born, we are ALL dependent—navigating a life of interdependence. What older adults really seek is autonomy, agency, and control over their lives. It can be challenging for them when they find themselves unable to make certain decisions or rely on others for tasks that were once simple. We often advise adult children against being "helicopter children." It’s important to respect our parents' autonomy, allowing them to maintain control over their own lives. While offering help is valuable, unless there are cognitive impairments or other issues, we should enable them to make their own choices whenever possible—even if that doesn’t fit the traditional definition of “independence.” We have a client who wanted to visit the shoe store for an after-Christmas sale. Her daughter was resistant, citing the chaos of the mall that weekend and saying, “Mom, you don’t need any more shoes anyway!” Our client firmly responded, “I’m 86, and if I want to go shoe shopping, then I should be able to go shoe shopping.” She did go to the mall. And she did purchase not just one, but two new pairs of shoes. Did she need them?? That wasn’t the point. #aging #independentaging #ageism #eldertech #caregiving

Today marks the beginning of our weeklong series, where we’ll share insights from an independent third-party survey conducted with seniors and family caregivers, along with relevant data from our client base. This statistic highlights a significant gap in perception: only 39% of seniors feel they are receiving substantial support from their families, while a striking 93% of family caregivers believe they are providing ample assistance to their aging parents. According to AARP, the average family caregiver dedicates 24.4 hours per week to help their loved ones. This underscores the value of Naborforce as a vital resource for families, helping to ease the burden and provide much-needed peace of mind—truly a solution that’s a painkiller, not just a vitamin. #caregiving #productmarketfit #agetech #sandwichcaregivers #agingparents

Nearly 80% of Americans want to age at home, but growing caregiver shortages and increasing costs are placing a tremendous burden on families. Naborforce certainly cannot solve all the challenges, but we can help. Our average client uses us just 4 hours per week - that small investment can make a big difference in keeping someone in their home, delaying the move to senior living or the need for more formal care, AND provide a break and peace of mind to overworked family caregivers. #aginginplace #caregiver #community #family

We talk a lot about the value we provide to our clients and their families. And we do provide a lot of value – independence, autonomy and connection for our clients and peace of mind and backup for their families. But the value we provide to our Nabors is equally compelling. We know that most Nabors have a heart for service and are seeking purpose and a sense of giving back. Oftentimes they are filling a void in their own life, having recently become an empty nester or retiring from their career. Below is a moving story of one of our Nabor’s journey. Ken Green applied to be a Nabor in July 2021. His application and interview went swimmingly until he got up to leave and took a flip phone out of his pocket. We had to let him know that unfortunately he would have to have a smart phone as everything runs through our Nabor App. We assumed that was the end of that. Well, later that afternoon, we got a call from an excited Ken Green letting us know that he just left the Apple store and was now the proud owner of a new iPhone! Ken began going on visits with clients, providing neighborly help in many different ways - everything from driving one client to a senior center several days a week, to helping a client prepare meals to simply providing companionship. He was very professional, reliable and well-liked by clients. Over nearly two and a half years, Ken went on hundreds of visits, bringing joy to numerous clients until his time as a Nabor abruptly came to an end last year. On a warm, fall Sunday, Ken had a visit where he took a client and her dog to the groomer and then the three of them took a walk around the pond at Deep Run Park. As he was getting into his car to return home, he had a heart attack and passed away. Ken was 81. Devastating to his family, friends and clients for sure. But, his wife sent us a note with a link to his obituary, and there was his smiling face right in front of the Naborforce banner. She told us that she felt at peace knowing Ken died doing something he loved. She went further to say that being a Nabor was “the source of his own healing after 2 years of deep grief from the sudden loss of his eldest son,” who had died 4 years prior. She said it allowed it Ken to “safely return to life and helping others, which proved to be a connection to his purpose for the previous 40 years.” We are so blessed at Naborforce to be able to witness the good side of humankind every day – and to be able to provide a platform to promote it. #agingwell #community #purpose #agetech

This article shares an interesting perspective as things heat up in this election year. Social and political views factor heavily as people consider where they want to live post retirement. As the article highlights, “birds of a feather flock together.” This desire for social compatibility is one of the tenants of success of Naborforce. Because our Nabors hail from our clients’ own communities, they align well with the social norms and values. #olderadults #retirement #agetech #longevity

While we are helping older adults stay independent and autonomous, our data shows that when the adult child initiates an account, they spend double (that means just a few times a week for an hour or two). That little bit of backup can make a big difference in keeping caregivers in the workforce. That’s exactly what our founder was solving for when founding Naborforce - a resource for older adults and their family caregivers to bridge that gap until home care is needed. #caregiving #sandwichgeneration #career #employeebenefits
