1) Clarity on Organization culture : High productive resources with wrong attitude are more harmful for the team comparative to the value they add. Such people should be warned and then removed from the team if not able to work as a team. Bullying of any kind should not be tolerated. 2) Respect Management/Hierarchal boundaries : Sometimes managers when see team is not upto the mark, they bypass team leads and reach out to resources and take command in their own hand. This is wrong practice, instead team leads should be mentored on how to handle their subordinates. This way future leaders will be ready for the organization. 3) Feedback Culture : Open for feedback culture helps to understand the team environment to take correct actions.

In my experience, what has helped is the framework we use to track the goals and expectations. What I followed in one of the critical projects was to give a subset of the report structure that defines the go-to-green plan to the team lead and ask the team to present the same in weekly team meetings. This helped a lot to bring all on the same page and meet the goals and expectations as well as bring the risks for not meeting as well..

Remember that team is made of individuals who have their own opinion and work methodology. To keep them together for single focused outcome we must have processes in place. The PM should set, - Clear communication & set expectation - Define one communication channel & encourage everyone to use that - Explain them WHY it is important to have clear communication & one channel

Pair programming can be used to foster collaboration and communication. Team members should know the daily SCRUM meeting is a safe space to raise concerns and that the sooner an issue is raised the less likely it is to impact timelines. I encourage team feedback/suggestions during the sprint retrospective and try to implement these in future sprints.

I start my project/program by bringing together everyone and creating a team agreement. The idea behind this team agreement is identify everyone's preferred ways of working ( work hours, overlap time, time off, number of meetings etc.). During this meeting, as a team we also agree upon the meetings with expectations from participants as well as the agenda of the meeting. Every individual has a preferred mode of communication, some prefer emails while some are comfortable jumping on a call. All these preferences are documented in the team agreement. This agreement is re-visited once every 2-3 months to make any amends.

If a team member or two isn't meeting expectations meet with them one on one to discuss ways to improve performance.

Consistency is the key to success. Set regular meetings, make sure everyone attends it. The meetings should be constructive. Appreciate all positive efforts, consider complain as an opportunity to improve and guide individual how to take it positive and improve oneself from that.

I have learned that collaborative culture requires openness and honesty among the members working together. And culture starts from oneself. So my best suggestion is to be open and honest to receive feedback and listen to other's challenges without assuming fault in their work. A small direct, open and honest conversation goes long way in building team culture.

Communication and collaboration are critical factors if we leverage appropriately it can bring in lot of values to the team Members as well to the team. Communicating on overall goals and objectives and current progress more often in regular frequency enables team to feel part of the engagement. In addition the leaders should create multiple platform to have open communication not just to discuss only issues Or challenges but to discuss what else we can do whats working and whats not working etc. having the right collaboration tools and encouraging team to engage that and reward and recognise those who actively engage and collaborate slowly help to change the culture. It has to start with the leadership ….

It’s extremely important to have complete transparency in the communications, making sure to raise any risks or red flags early enough so that mitigative or corrective actions can be taken on time.

In my experience it has always been seen that a team with good communication was also a team that collaborated well. Due to the human factor, people who can communicate and feel listened to are more likely to collaborate. You don't need much to have a group with good communication, but you have to work hard to do that little: - it is necessary to listen to people, take notes if necessary, and follow up (even negative) on what has been heard; - it helps a lot to develop communication skills within the group. If necessary, some specific training can be done with specialists. Improving communication improves collaboration, but you need to put in the effort to communicate.

If you begin with an honest evaluation / discussion with the team to look at how they currently work, it will help you find the root cause(s) of the problem so you can address it directly.
