On a more serious note, initial screening rounds are often conducted by individuals without a deep understanding of the role and rely heavily on keyword matching between job ads and resumes. While you may have crafted an excellent resume, keep in mind that you're not the one hiring yourself. Consider tailoring your resume style to match the job or company, for ex: not everyone favours a single-page resume. Work backward from the audience of your application review and the preferences of the hiring team. It's crucial to optimize your LinkedIn profile for your target role. If you throw in countless keywords and try to pursue multiple roles simultaneously, it will make it harder for recruiters to assess what you're looking for and understand what you're qualified for. I've found that job seekers I work with get 𝘧𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘳 interviews when they're pursuing multiple (and very different) roles at the same time. This means you need to reduce the noise, simplify, and create a succinct, clear narrative as to why you are a fit for your target role. Update your Headline, About, and Skills sections to focus on one target role, and highlight the contributions that are most relevant for your target role in your Experience section. Ditch the rest!

For my coaching clients, we provide them a simple spreadsheet to track their job search activity. I ALWAYS did this in my job searching days. You need to track the company, job title, where you found the job, your contact person, and what stage(s) you advance to. As they say, knowledge is power, and tracking your activity and results will show you what is, and isn't, working in your job search. For example, are you getting lots of first round interviews but not second rounds? Tracking your results will tell you that.

HR departments, whole institutions, the entire system is based on biased and prejudice cultures concerned whether people meet THEIR attitudes and believe systems, i.e. all their checkboxes of right color, right age, right orientation, right ethnicity, right minority, etc... Discriminatory practices are the norm and reality, without any regard for EEOC and IDEA law. They do not think reference the value one potentially can bring but whether or not someone "fits." It is appalling!

We all have been there and can do what we put our minds to. If you are passionate about it, let nothing stop you.

In addition to the great tips provided, I have found that often the lack of responses can be tied to a lack of a defined job search strategy, which leads to you easy-applying to just any role, or missing opportunities to showcase your work (and relying too much on a resume). Analogous to an attempt to bake a cake with no recipe. You are void of clarity, direction and measurements for success. A job search strategy first identifies specific criteria/priorities/interests - so that you are only seeking specific roles, companies, titles that align with what your core skills and accomplishments. Then it includes defining ways, other than easy-applying, to show your value to specific contacts at select companies where you want to work.
