People breaking in will note there's a big difference between whom they'd bet on and who the partners choose. Make sure you are a person who can say "no" for the vast majority of the time.

Several paths can take you into VC: -Entrepreneurship: Successful entrepreneurs often transition into VC. -Consulting/corporate development: Consultants or strategist learn the right tools (analysis and mentorship), which come in handy to transition into VC. -Finance/M&A/private equity: Professionals with a financial background (analysis, due diligence, deal structuring) have the relevant skills for VC. -Angel investing: Investors with successful exits can transition into VC. -Industry expertise: A deep expertise in a specific industry (e.g. biotech) can bring valuable skills for a VC. -Venture fellow/internships: Landing an internship (e.g. after a consulting/startup internship) at a VC provides valuable hands-on experience to get into VC.
