On top of that any HR specialist interviewing an applicant will definitely check level of awareness on company mission, values, corp. culture etc. just to understand applicant's motivation and how it matches company's expectations. In case intern is already in the company, every "normal" company has onboarding process which to certain extent should cover corp. culture issues. If there is no such onboarding process then such company can't claim that it has corp. culture and I would recommend to look for another company which has onboarding process at place.
