In my experience a leader should recognise or see untapped talent and potential not through the yearly performance reviews but by being close to the team and have regular one on ones conversations. A lot can be learnt about the individual and their aspirations and potential. Performance reviews could be the mechanism to highlight this in a formal way and work on a development plan and next steps. A way to develop and motivate this talent is to include or give them projects where they can develop their skills and talent

Il nous arrive parfois de découvrir ces fameux talents cachés chez nos collaborateurs : une compétence particulière qui ressort lors d'une occasion particulière. Je ne crois pas que cela apparaisse lors d'évaluations, car bien souvent trop formelles, mais plus durant une opération spécifique, une négociation dure avec un client ou un fournisseur, une crise ou autre. Nous voyons un signe qui nous dit "attention, nous avons une pépite potentielle là !". Une fois la pépite repérée, je conseille d'en discuter directement avec votre collaborateur : "C'est génial ce que tu as fait lors de ... en faisant ... Tu as déjà eu ce type d'approche ? On pourrait en discuter un peu ?"

For a product marketing team I led, I funded their master's in product marketing certification from the Product Marketing Alliance. In the past, I've worked with different organizations. What's good about it is that I increase my team's skill set and competency, and my team members get something they can post on LinkedIn and their resumes. It gives back to them to help develop their career and brand and increase their ability to add value to the organization.

La meilleure approche pour moi est de définir des objectifs de progrès, avec des attentes claires de part et d'autre. Au passage, n'hésitez pas à indiquer que vous savez que tout ne sera pas facile ni forcément réussi immédiatement, cela permettra de montrer concrètement votre soutien.

Como de praxe, quando os membros de sua equipe conseguirem realizar entregas de alto valor agregado, ou seja, tarefas concluídas com sucesso e com redução de tempo e aumento de produtividade, comemore o feito. Reconheça em público, reforce com sua equipe como é importante a interação e o aprendizado contínuo. Se houver orçamento em sua área, faça alguma atividade de descontração, ou seja, realize uma pequena festa no escritório, compre algumas lembranças para o seus colaboradores.
