If it's truly an industry "peer" why do you have to navigate anything? Speak as a peer, be honest, listen, and exchange viewpoints. This isn't a competition, unless your ego is weak, your self-esteem is low, and you really doubt that you're a peer. If you can't speak extemporaneously and comfortably to a peer, then you aren't one.
