Start by conducting a vision and goal setting meeting with the project's stakeholders to comprehend their expectations and identify their requirement. The results of the meeting then complied with the local codes to avoid design errors. When both lists are completed, architects and/or project managers will conduct a plan to complete the project in a timely and budget sensitive manner.

understanding the task and what you need to deliver is very important. from that, you will be given a clear goal and will get steps in which the task needs to be done. if you have a team, discuss the task with the team so that they get motivated and self-driven, and the objective becomes very clear in the first place.

Every project should start with a Project Charter (i.e. contract or other authorization to proceed document) that should clearly outline the project's scope and goals, the overall budget (and sometimes includes budget per phase) and the approximate timeline. Once all of this is properly identified, the team is then able to commence with a clearly definable objective including deliverables for each phase of the project's lifecycle.

When a Project Manager/Architect clearly identifies the deliverables, project scope, schedule, budget, and project creep/additional services for each project phase, the initial deliverables will be easily discernable. As Architects, we understand foundations cannot be designed until we have a building layout/footprint, so trust your instincts. Unless directed otherwise by the Project's Owner or other Stakeholders, then one should proceed to provide the most clarity possible given the stage of design. And keep in mind that often times as a project progresses, a task such as schematic ceiling plans may need to be completed outside of the original project order in order facilitate other deliverables meeting their deadlines.

drafting is the goal, and 2D CAD is just the software. the more command you have on the tool, the more efficiency you will get with time. you can watch online videos or learn from the course, it will give you a good headstart.

While keyboard shortcuts and plug-in tools are great at increasing the speed of drafting, I have found they can create a lot of clutter in the programs' ribbon bars for lesser experienced staff. The goal should be to increase the speed of work while decreasing mistakes, which can include switching from say AutoCAD to AutoCAD Architecture for more built-in features for wall sections and floor plans. Additionally, with young drafting technicians, I have found the following drafting work breakdown structure to greatly expedite their workflow: 1. Exterior Walls 2. Interior Walls 3. Doors 4. Windows 5. Exterior Building Elevations 6. Overhangs, Soffits Ceilings, Equipment 7. Roof Plan 8. Foundation Plan 9. Finishes, Millwork, etc.

Focus is a key. As well, sketch before you draw in CAD. You hand is much faster than your computer. Sketching helps you think, work out designs, combine infos. Sketch in CAD, when you need to measure distance or area, use only one or two tools. Try and fail own your own. I used to master the CAD that I tried building projects on my own. Dream hotel, Dream office, dream holiday home... Design them and than draw them to its finest details.

drafting is relatively a boring job to do, if you are not motivated or the deadline is not near, you will procrastinate a lot. best way to stop procrastinating is to put the things that distract you from working at a large distance. it works for me, hope this simple trick will work for you too.

You drawing is good enough, when anybody can understand it. This means, if you give it to any 3rd party, who has some understanding about architectural project is able to recognize every single information. Pay attention to the comment of the builders. We as an architect have to provide all the information for the site. We have to be clear, we have to work out deliverable details, which are also cost efficient.

A strategy I find helpful is to consider your drawings a written book that requires proofreading. When setting up a progress meeting, include design reviews in your task planners for your co-workers. Allow them to state their opinions freely to tackle as many perspectives as possible and accept feedback humbly.

The important idea to remember is your drawings are a living document and will never be 100% perfect. The goal is to minimize errors and omissions through a Quality Control and Quality Analysis (QA/QC) process. While some firms may have an individual performing this review, the important idea is to have a checklist and often having printed drawings to review side-by-side can be helpful. Additionally, remember to also plan QA/QC into your project schedule. Important items to include in a QA/QC check should be: 1. Correct titleblocks / initials / addresses 2. Company Font & Size 3. Spell Checking 4. Check against project deliverables/charter 5. Cross-Coordination of Disciplines, materials 6. Etc.

learn to finish everything at least a day before the submission. reviewing the drawings improves your work by thousand times. the silly mistakes, and the fine-tuning, actually build your impression of how seriously you have done the job.

Take some time and a break before you submit your drawing. There can be an urge to send the final work right after finishing it. Give yourself some time to review that the project is exported/saved properly.

Invest your time to build a strong SOP and library (layers, annotations, dynamic blocks, annotative objects, etc) especially when working with other team member. Would be best if it done before the project kick-off. Utilize sheetset system, create automations with fields, so later on, when the due date come, you dont have to worry about all formating especially in filling and managing the title box which usually takes so much time when done manually. Track your (and your team member's) time for evaluation by the end of each day!

Read the inputs and understand the requirements. Define the scope of work. Request to client/customer for standards( if they have). Set up the drawings with desired. Scale & Xrefs. Make plot settings & take the plots close the request
