Creating an engaging virtual presence is pivotal in remote motivational speaking. Your digital stage is the foundation of your online events, and it's crucial to ensure that your setup supports high-quality audio and video streaming. Consider investing in a professional microphone and camera to deliver clear and compelling messages. Lighting also plays a significant role; soft, diffused light can enhance your on-screen appearance, making you more approachable and relatable to your audience. Remember, your digital stage is your new platform; make it as professional and inviting as possible.

I avoid green screen, as it often looks fake and people like real things. I set up a studio in my home with a bright red sofa to add some colour and a big green leafy plant to soften the scene. I light the scene with step video lights with big soft boxes on them, to give me soft and flattering lighting. I use a shotgun mic overhead to give me great audio quality. I don’t use a separate camera, as the camera on my MacBooks are excellent quality anyway. Rather than sharing my screen to show my slides, I have a separate laptop which powers a big screen that sits the right of my shoulder, behind the sofa. I make sure it is in view of my webcam and the lighting is right, so there are no reflections. It works a treat and it’s low-tech to.

Motivating audiences remotely with a digital stage requires the use of platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Hopin to host dynamic virtual events. Investing in high-quality audio and video equipment, such as professional microphones and cameras, will ensure a polished presentation. Use content creation tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud to create engaging visuals and presentations. Interactive engagement tools like Mentimeter and Slido can keep the audience involved through polls and Q&A sessions. Additionally, scheduling tools such as Calendly and project management tools such as Trello simplify the process of managing events and workflows.

Engaging Visuals: To engage your audience, use visually appealing slides and multimedia. Tools like Canva or PowerPoint can help create professional presentations. Interactive Elements: Incorporate polls, Q&A sessions, and breakout rooms to make your sessions interactive and engaging.
-
In my experience, the most important thing on the digital/virtual stage is your confidence in your abilities. While glitches are a norm, being aware of your environment (both internal and external) can create a huge impact on your performance. While digital tools like video conferencing, mic, visual background, lighting and the quality of it all matter in enhancing the appeal, what keeps our audiences hooked to us is our unique strength and character.

Success is not as much about what you think, but more about the way that you think. What we commonly refer to as our personality is actually the root of the way that we think. There are four roots or puzzle pieces to the way that we think: - How a person gets energized - How a person takes in information - The means a person uses to make decisions - The speed with which a person makes decisions What we think is heavily influenced by the above. #myersbriggs #mbti #forrestlambspeaks #personalitytype
Interactivity is the lifeblood of motivational speaking. When working remotely, you must leverage tools that facilitate audience participation. Live chat features, Q&A sessions, and real-time polls can transform a one-way monologue into a dynamic dialogue. These tools not only keep your audience engaged but also provide valuable feedback, allowing you to tailor your content to their interests and reactions. By fostering this two-way communication, you create a memorable and impactful experience that resonates with your listeners.

Interactivity indeed plays a crucial role in the effectiveness of motivational speaking, especially in a remote setting. Live chat features allow immediate audience participation, enabling listeners to share thoughts, ask questions, and interact with each other and the speaker in real time. Q&A sessions are another powerful tool. By setting aside time to address the audience's specific questions, speakers can provide tailored responses that meet their listeners' unique needs and interests. Real-time polls are excellent for gauging audience opinions and feedback. Overall, by incorporating these interactive elements, motivational speakers can transform a static presentation into a dynamic and engaging dialogue.

-
Using interactive presentation tools makes your presentations more engaging and interactive and enables you to solicit feedback and participation from your remote audience.
Your message is more powerful when supported by visual aids. Utilize screen sharing and presentation software to share slides, images, and videos that complement your speech. These visual elements can help illustrate your points and keep your audience captivated. It's important to ensure that any content you share is easily visible and accessible across various devices, as your audience may be tuning in from smartphones, tablets, or computers. Effective content sharing enhances understanding and retention, making your message stick.

How many of you are familiar with death by PowerPoint? No one wants to sit to listen to the drum of lecture. I remember early in my Air Force career; I was listening to a new professor AF attempting a lecture. He had note cards scattered on the stage and he moved from note card to note card. He didn't speak to us. I assume this was his way of keeping his audience awake by not standing in one place. One poor soul down front fell asleep. The instructor's topic wasn't appealing and his technique failed to connect. The instructor made the mistake of asking the guy next to the poor soul, "Hey wake him up." I couldn't resist and shouted, "Why don't you wake him up? It was your boring talk put him to sleep. I connected and the crowd came alive.

Content Management and Scheduling Tools: Use tools like Hootsuite, Buffer, or Trello to manage your content schedule and ensure you stay on top of your social media presence. 📍 Example: Hootsuite can help you schedule posts across different platforms, ensuring consistent engagement with your audience.

Content is key is remote motivational speaking! Ensure your visual aids are clear and succinct. Often times, speakers clutter their slides with too much information making it hard for the audience to focus on the actual speech. Use short phrases in your slides and put your details you speak about in the notes section for your viewing only. Illustrate your content with good complimentary visuals such as graphs, tables, pictures, gifs etc. These variety of visual content keeps the audience engaged and also makes it easier to grasp the context of the content shared. Lastly, vary your tone as you speak. This little tip is the difference between a memorable experience vs. a boring presentation. Leave them with something to “talk about”
-
The most important part of designing powerful presentations is to make sure that your slides only have images and hardly any words on them. No one wants to read words on a slide! Those should be your notes! - Use two screens so that you can have your notes up on the screen below your camera and have the slides on the other screen that the audience sees. - Practice the presentation several times so that you memorize the points you’re making on each slide. - Take the time to curate the perfect image that sums up the exact point you’re making at that moment in your presentation. - Anytime you have to use bullet points (and seriously avoid using them if possible!), be sure animate them so that the audience only sees one line at a time.
In remote motivational speaking, managing your time effectively is essential. Online audiences have a limited attention span, so it's important to structure your sessions with clear timelines. Use time management tools to plan your speech segments, allocate time for audience interaction, and include short breaks if necessary. This helps maintain engagement and prevents fatigue. Keeping a close eye on the clock ensures that you cover all your key points without rushing or overextending your session.

-
Always set expectations with the audience from the beginning so they have a clear roadmap on what they’ll be doing. When calculating how long each segment of your talk will take, add in some padding in case you go over. It’s always okay to have extra time at the end for Q&A, but stressful to not have enough time to get through the content because you went over. Practice, practice, practice!! It’s imperative to time yourself delivering each segment several times as sometimes you expand upon stories and take longer than other times. Always allot the longest amount of time it took you to deliver that part. When using breakout rooms, give clear instructions about how long each person should take when sharing, and give 2 minute warnings.
-
Para evitar prolongar uma palestra remota, faça o planejamento e organize uma pauta com os temas principais que serão discutidos. Nesse processo, organize os assuntos por prioridade, evitando palestras longas e com muitos assuntos, que as deixam improdutivas.

ChatGPT In addition to using time management tools, consider incorporating time-saving techniques into your remote motivational speaking routine. For example, creating reusable presentation templates can streamline the content creation process and help maintain consistency across your sessions. Similarly, pre-recording certain segments of your speech allows for smoother transitions and can help you stay on schedule. By optimizing your workflow and minimizing time-consuming tasks, you can focus more on delivering impactful messages and engaging with your audience effectively.

As a international conference speaker for technical, law, finance, and project transfer of data I can confirm you need to regularly train your voice to transfer to the back of the room, by doing so when the electronics fail you can carry on. Content deliverance is a world on its own and not for everyone. Even executing an electronic presentation to one as opposed to 10,000 people it is necessary that the transfer is clear correct in information transfer and to the point, with no deviation. Slightly sterile, yes some lighter moments can be included but remember what you think is smart or funny may not go down well with the receiver.

I have participated in a host to Training and development programs as well as Technology conference presentations and with all of the laser light shows, demonstrations from all types of devices like smoke machines, broadcasting on multiple screens the most important part of the presentation was the genuineness of the presenter. If the presenter made an effort to provide the audience with beneficial information and content the recipients were locked-into their presentation. The enthusiasm, commitment and delivery of the information comes from within the presenter.

You are made to make a difference through your unique speaking style.

I am sorry, but I do not participate or encourage remote motivational speaking. No personal touch or one on one that is critical to connecting with the listeners. Nothing like the real person standing or sitting in front of you. Remote creates an unemotional and sterile environment that fosters distrust and the "so what, same old song, different verse." In a live performance, it is nice to be able to come up to the performer and possibly talk to the singer or guitar man. That creates a physical tie, that can be beneficial for both. Cannot do that via any online platform.
