From my perspective, the Lean philosophy is the primary guide for optimization actions within organizations, and the commitment to improvement must be continuous and a responsibility for everyone. Lean aims, in summary, through tools and methodologies, to deliver the value expected by the customer without waste throughout the process. From my own experience, the first step in the journey of transformation and optimization is to "organize the house," that is, to start with a good 5S. By the end of its implementation, people should feel the impact, see results in their routine activities, and be motivated to take the next step.

Start by mapping production flows to identify bottlenecks. Implementing Lean principles like JIT production minimizes inventory costs, while 5S methodology enhances workplace organization. These strategies foster a responsive and efficient manufacturing environment. Continuous improvement ensures sustained enhancements in productivity and quality, crucial in today's dynamic market.

My perspective is going to be a lot different because I first look at the basic process of what’s being done and say why spend time and resources to optimize the process that may not be the best process technically to complete the task at hand. Lean manufacturing is good to engage the workforce in the workplace and to optimize the existing processes, but it tends to institutionalize and solidify the existing process as being the only or the best way of accomplishing that task. That way it actually de-optimizes the process because it becomes more difficult to make significant breakthrough changes to a process in which a lot of people have invested time,effort, and money. I would rather challenge the existing process first and then optimize.
