This is when the project manager should be display his "type A" personality. He should be transparent in his goals and be decisive in his decisions. But this should bar him from listening to sound suggestions that will improve the chances of success of the desired outcome. However this should not dissuade him from straying from identified goals and target dates. The project manager should be able to swing from type A or B when the situation demands. He could cajole, persuade and also be dictatorial to whatever the team needs to move. When the team succeeds he succeeds. He also need to commend and praise for a highly motivated team also need encouragement.
