Curiosity is the fuel for continuous learning and creativity. As leaders, we must face many challenges and obstacles. Once you feel you know everything, you become overconfident and stop learning. When you then encounter a challenge you can’t solve, you begin to doubt yourself. The true test of a leader is to recognize problems before they become emergencies. The problem arises when leaders don’t know what problems they are facing and simply do what they know, repeating the same mistakes. That’s why leaders must maintain curiosity and learn from other people’s problems and failures so they know what to do when facing issues before they become emergencies.

And, solving problems creatively doesn't happen spontaneously as an immediate response to a complex problem unless in an environment of curiosity, exploration and creativity. As a leader, you must encourage your team members to explore newer ways to perform their tasks within the constraints of available limited resources and time. While doing so, serendipity may occur. The indefatigable desire to know more can be fulfilled through continuous learning initiatives. Rewards, appreciation should always be in place for usable ideas generated by your team members.

In my perspective Creativity is a skill which gets enhanced from our early years and again the dominant part of the brain is another factor to it. The creativity gets enhanced when exposure to environment starts at very young days , with the encouragement of reading the books, newspapers , with lots of reasoning activities, asking why and how questions, Giving choices instead of instructions from the early years, Letting child to explore and resolve their conflicts even though they might be wrong initially.

Here’s a game-changer: unless you start rewarding failures, you won’t unlock boldness potential in your organisation and develop a true risk-taking culture. Rewarding risks only in case of successful outcomes is a safe route. This doesn’t mean leaders will take risks without considering the impact. This means that true boldness cannot be unleashed from our safe minds that are primarily focussed on avoiding discomfort. We need leaders who operate from their great minds - meaning those leaders pulled forward by their true vision (regardless how risky it is) and fuelled by their passion rather than driven by their need for safety and comfort. I'd like people to remember that innovation is at one end of the creativity continuum, with adaptation being at the other. We've become obsessed with innovation over the last couple decades, which has led those with skills in adaptation to believe they're 'not creative'. Sometimes we need to tweak & refine. Sometimes we need to start with a blank sheet. Leaders need to explore what type of creativity is needed in each situation.
