I think the small emails to thank someone for efforts that are above and beyond but are personalised can be even more impactful to that individual. Or a small note on the desk with a chocolate bar is another nice way to thank someone. Some employees respond better to more discrete ways of acknowledgement and hate the big public recognition displays.

I so much agree with the culture of celebrating success no matter the nature of the win. It reignites the team loyalty passion among team members. The success mustn't necessarily be attached to team goals, it could be about a member who just got certified for a professional course. In my experience of leading cross functional teams, I came across a certain sense of importance that comes with team members from various departments. It is critical that every member understands and appreciates that in an organisation, no department takes precedence above the other. No one's role is less important than the other. They must be made to realise that departmental goals are/(should be) linked to a higher organisational goal. This usually takes time. The sooner the boat points to the right direction, the quicker we reach our goals by rowing efficiently.
