You found the challenge rewarding. You found purpose in helping elevate other learners. You have decided to make a career move to academics. Then be open about your next steps. Be active on committees. Develop courses. Ask directly about full-time roles. You will find many leaders who understand you and who will mentor you.

The key here is articulation; how can you articulate what you have learned so far in terms of its applicability to the destination you've chosen to head towards? Put more simply, what can prospective employers get from YOU that they won't get from others, based on the career trajectory you have followed to date? As a long-term practitioner now working in HE, I see the powerful value of both of those experience sets really clearly. Your task is to articulate how YOUR current experience set fits their needs now; but also how you will develop that experience set in the new role, to the mutual benefit of yourself and the prospective employer in the future. Yet again, narrative counts for everything.

One thing is for sure, anything you do to better and enhance yourself is worth it. Investment into one's self is priceless. Find your passion and learn more about it.

I say colleagues as well because, you want to ensure if an opportunity comes up - it might be a small task - and you are not in the room or vicinity, your colleagues can mention your name having heard you speak about it.
