One thing I have found helpful to recognize signs is periodic formal or informal connect with the team. In most of the cases, it is very easy to identify the impacted individual and take timely action.

This is one of the very important aspects, development could be exhausting specially with tight deadlines, giving flexibility to developers, in terms of working hours, location, technology if possible, would greatly decrease the probability of a burnout.

Development is a heavy mental exercise. To get the most and best product from developers, and to prevent them from burning out, you MUST allow them to do their work whenever they are most productive. "MUST"? If not the result is simple: less code will be produced, and the code that is produced will be of lower quality, contain more bugs, not run as efficiently, etc.. We want these devs in "The Zone", or "The Flow". Employers and Leaders should do everything possible to keep their developers in The Zone for as much time as possible daily. Not only does this give the organization more code produced, but it also gives much higher quality code, AND helps prevent developers from burning out! Developers WANT to be in The Zone!

I would also add trying to change the activities required from developers from time to time, as well as technologies, like "learn something new", "give a little help in this other project", .... etc

Other factors to consider are encourage teams to 1. Innovate, adopting technology and improved ways of working 2. Retrospective and continuous improvement culture, learning from mistakes and find solutions to avoid burnout as a team. 3. Collaborate and work as a team and help each other out, share experiences and best practices.
