Few things which helped me in my previous internships - 1. Engage and interact with all members of the team/division/etc. you've been made a part of. 2. Keep asking and checking with the team members whether you can help/assist for any area of their work/project deliverables. 3. There might be only administrative/research oriented help that the other team members might need in the starting, but basis the quality of your contributions, you will likely be involved in the strategic aspects as well. 4. Always document and make notes of everything that you get involved in, you never know when the minutes of meetings will come in handy.

Many a times interns do not realise the importance of research and documentation which in probable future would be a key client deliverable.
