I guess the pros are that you know what you are getting at the end of the month and you don't have to think about your taxes, contributions, or other legal issues. And you have the social benefit that comes with colleagues and a close team. In my view being self-employed offers the kind of freedom you can never get in a company, no matter how flexible and accommodating they may be. It depends very much on the personality type you are, what values you hold, and what is most important to you. And, of course, what your life circumstances are, if you have dependents and so on. There is clearly a case to be made for both employment and self-employment. For me, the freedom I have being self-employed far outweighs any benefits of employment.
