Be ready to articulate details about the business problem, data sources, methods, results, and impact of your work. 2. One thing I found that can be very helpful to understand the intricacies of underlying concepts is to perform a basic version of them from scratch and without using pre-defined libraries. Although it might be scary in the beginning, implementing a simple one is not very difficult, and there are multiple sources for that thing. 😉👍

Diving into data science, I found myself revisiting the fundamentals, a reminder of starting anew. I shared with friends how mastering statistical models and algorithms was a step-by-step journey, akin to learning a new language. This aspect is very important; you must know your projects and be able to explain them from memory. Understand why you made specific decisions, why you chose a particular approach, and so on. Otherwise, it implies that either you didn't do the projects or you didn't have an impactful role in them. Although it might be hard, even if you completed some projects a long time ago, reviewing your old projects before an interview can greatly impact your performance. 🧠💼

Effectively articulate the details of your data science projects, encompassing project goals, data sources, data pipeline, analysis steps, models employed, evaluation metrics, results, and recommendations. 2. Display tangible evidence of your projects by sharing code, notebooks, reports, and dashboards where applicable. This provides a comprehensive view of your approach, methodology, and outcomes. 3. Be prepared to discuss insights gained from your projects, including challenges faced, assumptions made, limitations encountered, and potential enhancements. This showcases a deep understanding of the project lifecycle.

Knowing your projects and the steps you took is very important to show your understanding of and expertise in all relevant components defining a data science project. However, it is not enough to explain the methods you used. Even more important is your thought process throughout the project. What were your assumptions in the beginning? Which challenges appeared during the project? Why did you decide to use a certain method/algorithm? Which analyses led you to those decisions? How did you ensure to address the company's business goals? Talking about your thoughts during a project gives important insights into your understanding of data science and business, and how you approach various problems.

During interviews, dive into your data science projects, offering insights into project goals, data origins, analysis methods, chosen models, key evaluation metrics, resulting findings, and actionable recommendations. Display your code, reports, and visualizations to provide tangible evidence of your work. Discuss challenges you encountered, detailing how you overcame them, and suggest potential improvements, showcasing your problem-solving abilities. Highlight the significance of your findings and propose future directions, underscoring your practical skills and contributions to real-world applications.

However, be very careful with these questions as they can be a breeding ground for exploitation. This means that businesses may interview data scientists and ask them about their core business challenges in the form of interview questions, then use your methods and approaches without your consent, without hiring or even crediting you. 🤔🚨

Understand their main products and target audience. Asking questions about these matters during the interview is crucial. It shows that you've done your homework and are genuinely interested in the firm. Additionally, if possible, gather information about who will be interviewing you. Learn about their role and contributions to the firm. This preparation demonstrates your keen interest and can greatly enhance your performance during the interview. 🕵️♂️🏢📚

Study up on the business, the position, and the interviewers you'll be meeting. You may more effectively adapt your comments and emphasize your fit if you are aware of their wants and background. Examine their corporate website, LinkedIn accounts, and any insider connections to get insight.

Para começar, indico que você revise sua trajetória e pense em tudo que pode te ajudar a se confirmar naquela posição almejada. Pense nos cursos que você fez e que tenham relação com o cargo pretendido, pense nas experiências de soluções com dados que você já viveu, no que você já leu sobre o assunto e no que você já viu funcionando e que pode fazer igual ou melhor. Use tudo isso para encontrar confirmação pessoal de que você obterá êxito na função porque você está preparado.
