Something that has always benefited me in my career is learning the new technology as soon as it comes out. I was using Swift the minute Apple made it available to the public. Similarly more recently with SwiftUI. I always grab the new Xcode Beta when it comes out to try the newest things before it’s publicly available. What this helps you do is think about new ways to work on software and often inspires more clever and out of the box thinking. Will you incorporate this new tech right away? Probably not but these new skills will help you in often surprising and unexpected ways.

In the age of GenAI with the likes of ChatGPT, it will be easier for one to learn a new skill or language and experiment new tech. Once "proven", then scale it to production but again be ready to adjust or pivot to an even better tooling. Innovation means constantly finding ways to improve or differentiate, which is a key trait not just limiting to mobile developers.

The two i always find fun for mobile devs is to try the new patters or paradigms, even if it is on a POC or throw away app just to see how they work. you may not use them in your current work, but you may see a way to incorporate them into future dev, or adapt them for your own use. The second is try out UX. Figma, Canva and XD all have free tiers, and just playing with it lets you get closer to your designers and helps with communication and ultimately makes a faster and better product.

Only start learning about a trend if it begins to dominate, this way, you won't spend 90% of your time on something that might soon become irrelevant.

With the advancement of AI I only recommend to get to know more AI code generators and use it as much as possible, and this is for all developers. And btw try to add more value beyond coding because with a functional AGI human coding is obsolete.
