Can I remain part time in my current position until fully established elsewhere? Is there a partner or dependents who will be impacted by the decision? What is their input and can a partner help share the financial load during the transition?

First off, with rare exceptions, there's always some risk in changing careers - but the rewards of a good change are worth it. Do due-diligence to weigh up the pros and cons. Discuss everything with a trusted mentor, but make sure the mentor has, also, changed careers. Do a deep analysis of the 'new career'. Plan the new career in written steps/goals. Plan the timing. Plan the potential career steps. Identify possible traps or 'stumble points'. Create a written plan (NEVER a verbal plan).

Mi consejo es que seas honesto(a) contigo y con los demás, sino hasta que te vayas vivirás un período de angustia y no hay por qué. A veces complicamos demasiado las cosas. Comunica tu situación y ponte una fecha límite en la que te gustaría irte. Y si este trabajo en el que estás, está afectando a tu salud mental, entonces sí o sí tienes que salir de ahí cuanto antes.
