I personally take a few moments to find out who will be attending the event and complete some research on them (e.g. their roles, what they are interested in and etc). Completing this preparation in advance will also make you feel more confident about what you will be saying which will lessen the nervousness factor.

Follow-up by asking another person how it applies to them. This can get the conversation going with more Q&A. Final thought: It's ok to not have all the answers (And sometimes recommended). Be honest & promise to follow-up with the answer later. It gives you credibility and an open door for more touch points.
