Monitoring is most important aspect as you don't have control on 3rd party api's , nor connectivity , latency etc . Only control you have is to identify abnormalities for everyday :) Define NFR's and ensure they are mentored and alerts and logs are in palace.

Consider Opensource and deployment flexibility if your transaction (no of invokes, payload size) are lot for smaller transaction iPaaS is good just take right package to check on cost. keep check on Opensource library upgrades and vulnerability Ensure its consolidate, use portal and single window for everything.
