I believe there are 3 key components to rebuilding reputation after a security event Transparency, Accountability and Communication. Transparency - be open and honest. This is honesty for all stakeholders - users to executives and board members. The messages should be geared to the audience but not change the heard of the message. Accountability - own it. No finger pointing on if's or but's. Own it and own the resolution. Communication - effective and timely communication is crucial not only during the event but afterwards. Let everyone know how the event made the organization stronger and be able to define the improvements.

Cuando tu empresa se ha visto comprometida a nivel de seguridad es importante saber la causa y el como se ha vulnerado, pero también es importante saber el cuando se ha realizado y hasta donde podrían haber llegado. Muchas vulneraciones se realizan mucho antes de ver las consecuencias, por lo tanto el recuperar un Backup o poner soluciones paliativas en ese momento no garantiza que el problema se haya solucionado del todo. Es importante el recuperar la estabilidad, pero también es importante el saber como volver a evitar todos los posibles agujeros que se puedan tener, así como siempre tener un plan de desastre preparado para evitar un 0 total en tu empresa.

I believe that when mistakes happen, especially in the realm of security, it’s vital not to point fingers but to acknowledge the fault. This approach saves valuable time, enabling us to identify and resolve issues swiftly instead of wasting time on arguments and blame.By taking accountability, we demonstrate our commitment to addressing the problem and encourage others to provide the necessary support to rectify it. Understanding what went wrong is far more productive than focusing on who did wrong.

After the network security has been compromised, the first action would be to follow the steps described in the incident response plan. The last actions after this incident would be to: * Hold a formal restrospective meeting * Update policies and procedures * Communicate the findings to the team.

Quando nos deparamos em uma situação dessa é comum nos perguntarmos qual o tipo de fragilidade da que comprometeu nossa rede, primeiramente temos que aceitar a situação e procurar sua solução, temos que levar esse ocorrido como experiência para evitarmos falhas futuramente e sempre temos que ter uma forte rede de contatos onde possamos trocar experiência e vivências com outros profissionais, para que possamos cada vez mais nos capacitar para os intempéries desse ramo. Immediate Response and Assessment Contain the Breach Immediately take steps to contain and mitigate the damage caused by the breach. Assess the Damage Understand the scope of the breach and its impact on our career and reputation. Inform Stakeholders Notify clients, employers, or any stakeholders about the breach transparently and honestly. Conduct a Post-Mortem Analyze the breach to understand how it happened and what can be done to prevent future incidents. Identify Weaknesses Pinpoint vulnerabilities in our practices or systems that contributed to the breach. Enhance Skills and Knowledge Continuous Education Pursue additional training or certifications in cybersecurity to strengthen our skills.

Knowledge and experience on security team is essential for successfully and effectively managing isolation of attacks within a timely manner. MITRE attack chain mitigation strategies, which actions must take place, and in what order, understanding the importance of maintaining and retracing the chain of custody, are necessary to enable effective decision makers are involved and informed about how security events are, can, and did occur. Emotions are on high during these situations and the team needs to remain calm and focused to perform an unbiased analysis and assessment. Team leaders must drive the team’s performance providing confidence and guide less experienced members into action to ensure the “immediate response” is optimal.

If there are any specific vulnerabilities that were exploited, take steps to fix them. This may involve patching systems, changing configurations, or implementing new security controls.

Immediate response will be done through isolating the affected system which will not originate the lateral movement. Also if the restore point is available for affected system then same system will be rebuild after all forensic analysis done to continue the business.

it is good to set your security by knowing what you are doing . then if there is a fault ,first ask your self why it happened . may is not important but what happened if it is critical ??? so fist see what is going to happened thet chose true action

From a growth perspective, the missed IOC in my early career was a blessing in disguise. It was a massive ego check. I was convinced that nothing would get past me, and I was the best new analyst in my organization. When it was brought to my attention, I was instantly defensive. Luckily, I had some great colleagues who took the time to show me what I had missed. It was a lesson in hubris. It forced me to admit that I was some super analyst and demonstrated that I still had much to learn. Being teachable is an excellent skill in cybersecurity. That mistake made me redouble my effort to stay abreast of current and emerging threats. It taught me the actual value of having a team. So, be teachable; it will carry you far as you rebuild.

in the ongoing cybersecurity warfare, you are always prone to attack even in the strongest possible defense system. The best skill is visibility and recovery from any uneven situation. learning from attack and then preventing your system and network is the best approach to cyber defense.

Communicate openly and honestly with your employer about the incident. Explain what happened, what you are doing to fix it, and how you are preventing it from happening again.

Communication of an incident should have already been addressed inside of the organizational Incident Response Plan. Rapidly implementing IRP processes and ensuring stakeholder visibility into the issue at hand, as well as the corresponding mitigating actions being taken, will most definitely reflect positively on the organization and help preserve the reputation of the entity affected.

Rebuilding your career after a network security compromise requires strong communication skills. I think the communication skills required to give direction to concern team to have a good perspective to come up with solution and also a leader should be there to handle all possible critical situation and should aware of all the circumstances which were lead to breach incident.

This might actually be in my own opinion the more important aspect of the said scenario, you can be honest and find where the weakest link in the chain of security was and assure the stakeholders that you work to build a more secure environment from lessons you’ve learned, one way or the other you got the experience to build a better and more secure environment.

I think the building trust is very important to the stakeholders and client. The major role played in this is by the team which working day and night. Also the information leakage should have control which may lead to impact the business vision and mission.
