I'm a huge fan of Virtual Reality and I eagerly await the first full VR film. There is a whole world of experiential possibilities awaiting us behind the goggles. The use of GenAI in storytelling is exciting because it allows you to quickly imagine, modify and create alternate universes and variations - especially if mixed with some of the other innovations mentioned in this article. For example, Interactive Fiction and VR can be used along with this to not just tell the story, but have the audience participate in it as well.

If you can find the right balance of authentic storytelling and AI, you have a super exciting future. Incorporating AI to help inspire creativity in your storytelling will inspire you as the storyteller - allow you to test ideas, concepts, before fully committing. For example I have used AI recently to generate images for a children's version of my new book. They are by no means final - but act as great visual concepts with can be associated with the words. Get that right balance ... but never allow it to remove the storyteller from you.

These new ways of telling stories make them more fun and let you feel like you're right there in the action.

AI is still a very limited tool for pure storytelling. It can be a great help for presentations, and it might be of some use for brainstorming and editing stories, but to actually find or write stories, it still has a way to go. The best use I've seen so far is in brainstorming stories. Say you want to make a point about the value of outsourcing, you might ask something like ChatGPT "What types of stories can I tell to support that?", and it might send point in the right direction. If you trained it with the right prompts, it might also help you edit the story, make sure it's clear and actually says what you want to say. But, for most people, I still suggest the original storytelling technology is by far the best one.

The ‘fact’ that people cannot distinguish between ‘generative storytelling’ and a handwritten story is far too often misunderstood as a blank check for … [you can safe money at the lower end of the industry] ▪ What is the value of 'generative storytelling' for an audience with dysfunctional mitochondria and far too high ‘beats’ and escape phantasies? or contribute to our surpassing the human condition (dépasser la condition humaine)? ▪ plagiarism machines would be a more appropriate label than the euphemism 'generative storytelling'. ▪ composing an 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 story or prompting harvested (euphemism for stolen) lines ▪ 𝗠𝗼𝘇𝗮𝗿𝘁 rolled the dice when he composed, without claiming to have entered into a co-creation process.
