By pursuing certifications and staying abreast of industry trends, I've expanded my skill set and network. Seeking feedback from mentors and peers has been invaluable, guiding me towards areas for improvement and growth. I've also taken on new responsibilities within my current role, setting clear goals to propel my career forward. It's all about staying proactive, open-minded, and seizing new opportunities along the way.

Career stagnancy needs careful review and planned action to overcome. Create clear career goals: Having a goal can help you learn the skills required to turn your dream into reality Keep abreast of your industry’s changes: if you are at the junior-most level, ensure that you keep tabs on new technologies and/or processes in your industry. . Work on your skills: try to update your skills. Learning new skills can reignite your passion for the job and create new opportunities. Network: In today’s times, networking is essential for various reasons. While it helps you find excellent career opportunities, it also helps broaden your perspective towards your job and feel more in control.

Project Management has evolved in last ten to twenty years. It all depends on the industry too. Many companies and institutions don't follow one method, usually two or three methodologies. Certification and financials are very important in project. Many professional adapt to all other project management skills. Keeping certifications current, reading, sharing, learning product or company business skills, to align helps. Know trendy tools is important too, applying that knowledge. Finally communication and people relations matter. Ultimately execution is the key, whatever said and done.

It's easy to get comfortable with the routine, but offering to take on new tasks aligned with Agile values has been a game-changer. I've seen colleagues break free from stagnation by volunteering for fresh initiatives, leading team discussions, or suggesting workflow improvements. It's not about showing off; it's about genuinely wanting to grow. And while some may disagree, I've found that proactive engagement often leads to exciting career advancements.

Managing projects with increased complexity and number of stakeholders/ teams kind of looks progression in the Project Manager role. But sometimes doing projects with similar nature becomes monotonous, so seek for efficiencies in that situation. Creating plans, more rigor in hitting the milestones and projecting values such as reduced risks, issues and wait times is rewarding. Making sure impact of the project completion vs delay is well understood by entire team helps gain focus and motivation to march on timelines. Identifying opportunities for improvement in planning, design, execution and overall delivery cycle helps to take your PM skills to next level with finding out optimal solutions around them.

Take time to reflect on your career goals, achievements, and areas of improvement on a regular basis. Set aside dedicated time for self-reflection and introspection to assess your progress, identify obstacles, and chart a course for continued growth and development.

📌 Find other challenge! 💡 Perhaps we have been enjoying ourselves in the comfort zone? And we are not realizing that it may cause our career stagnant. 💡 When feeling stagnant, find new challenges, for example take riskier opportunities, have willingness to make mistakes, do some experiments and be creative. 💬 Remember, there is no growth in the comfort zone, and there is no comfort in the growth zone.

A powerful option is to Simplify and automate as much of the work as possible. This enables wasted bandwidth to be released. Which can be of immediate value to the organization and the individual. Wherever effort is being spent to gather data is an opportunity to simplify and automate. This allows a shift from project reporting to project management. Bringing more valuable analysis and insight. Reducing the time spent in data gathering and reporting is a great way to provide headroom for the next level of value and growth.

As an Agile enthusiast, I know the importance of constant iteration and adaptation. Lately, that feeling of progress has stalled in my project management career. It's like a waterfall project stuck in the planning phase – all potential, no flow. But instead of getting discouraged, I'm taking an Agile approach to reignite my passion and growth. Here's my personal game plan: Sprint Retrospective: Time to reflect! I'll assess what's working and what's not in my current role. Am I under-challenged? New Skills, New Stories: Just like incorporating new user stories into a backlog, I'm adding fresh PM skills to my repertoire.

Seek Mentorship: Find a mentor or coach who can provide guidance, support, and advice as you navigate your career in project management. Explore New Opportunities: Be open to exploring new roles, industries, or sectors that align with your interests and career aspirations. Stay Resilient: Stay resilient in the face of setbacks or challenges, and maintain a positive mindset as you pursue opportunities for career advancement and growth.

Keep yourself current with the trends of industry and as well as your organizational requirements at all times. Understand the vision of your organization and align your skills. Although the vision of the organization to be executed may take a year or two, you can look forward & upskill yourself ahead of time. For example, auto industry is moving towards self driving connected cars, electrification & hosting on cloud. Ensure to include these topics in your learning plans. Most often, if you do not upgrade and align to changing needs of your organization, you will be left behind.
