What do you do if your business strategy project is falling behind schedule?

Direction is often more important than speed. If we are on right path & we can optimise further & allocate more resources speed can be achieved. But if direction is wrong it will take a lot of effort to readjust. Assessing direction & speed rightly thus becomes very important.

Alongside revisiting goals, revisit who is accountable. It may be that the goal was realistic but the implementation has been alowed due to the wrong people being in charge, or poor understanding of the strategy and how to deliver it. It is pointless revisiting goals without revising how those goals are delivered and who needs to be involved.

When a project falls behind, it's easy to get overwhelmed by the volume of tasks. Prioritizing them empowers your team to make meaningful strides and create a clear path forward. By focusing on high-impact activities, you accelerate progress where it counts most. This approach streamlines workflow and enhances team morale by providing direction and achievable targets. We should start by defining criteria for prioritization. Some of the most common factors could be urgency, resources available, and significance/impact/size of the prize. Once we have defined the criteria, we can create a matrix or a list sorting tasks by priority. Milestones and deadlines should be included in the matrix.

For each important part, make a simple version that works just enough to test your ideas.
