What do you do if you hit roadblocks in your architectural continuing education journey?

The first step is to identify the issue, particularly in architecture where we should always consider how the design will be built in real time and how it's coming to life. Occasionally, you may have small doubts that grow into larger ones, most of which can be answered by searching on Google or YouTube in addition to choosing an online mentor and following them. Examine their shortcomings and take note of their errors.

Identify the Roadblocks: Take some time to reflect on the specific challenges you're facing in your continuing education journey. Are you struggling to find relevant courses or resources? Are you encountering difficulties balancing your education with other professional or personal commitments? Identifying the root causes of your roadblocks is the first step towards finding solutions. Seek Support: Don't hesitate to reach out to mentors, colleagues, industry professionals for advice and support.They may have encountered similar challenges in their own educational journeys and can offer valuable insights and guidance. Additionally, consider joining online forums or communities where you can connect with other architects &share experiences.

Explore Different Learning Formats: If you're struggling to find suitable courses or resources in traditional formats, consider exploring alternative learning formats such as online courses, webinars, workshops, or conferences. These formats often offer more flexibility in terms of scheduling and can be more accessible for busy professionals. Reassess Your Goals: Take a step back and reassess your educational goals and priorities. Are there specific areas of expertise you're interested in developing? Are there certain skills or certifications you need to advance your career? Clarifying your goals can help you focus your efforts and make more informed decisions about your continuing education journey.

In my architectural continuing education journey, I've found two key strategies for success: 1- Commitment to Completion: Finish what you start. Dedicate time each day and set milestones to ensure you complete each course, overcoming any challenges along the way. 2- Sequential Learning Approach: Focus on one course at a time. Avoid starting multiple courses simultaneously, as it can lead to distraction and frustration. By completing one course before moving to the next, you maintain momentum and concentration. My past experience taught me that starting multiple courses concurrently often resulted in disengagement. However, by committing to these strategies, I've seen significant improvement in my learning journey.

Utilize Available Resources: Take advantage of the resources available to you, both within your organization and through professional associations and educational institutions. Many companies offer employee development programs or reimbursement for educational expenses. Likewise, professional associations often provide access to educational resources, workshops, and networking opportunities for members. Stay Flexible and Persistent: Continuing education is a journey that requires patience, flexibility, and persistence. Don't be discouraged by setbacks or challenges along the way. Stay committed to your goals, be open to exploring new opportunities, and don't hesitate to adjust your approach as needed.

Un arquitecto nunca deja de aprender y mucho menos de crear, si no fuera así, no se estaría entendiendo lo que la palabra arquitecto significa, en ocaciones cuando un arquitecto no hace nada( en cuestión laboral) es cuando más hace, ya que los tiempos libres son perfectos para la investigación, el estudio de campo (caminatas al aire libre viendo la arquitectura de las ciudades) visitar nuevas ciudades y sus edificaciones, aprender de lo que se está haciendo, también es tiempo propicio para bocetear, sketch, nuevas ideas, soltar la mente y dar flexibilidad a las creaciones que pudieran surgir más adelante, leer, autoeducarse, crecer tanto como persona como profesional, un arquitecto nunca está desocupado ni dejando de estudiar y aprender.
