The first step is to decide what kind of light source you want to use for your product photography. There are two main types of light sources: natural and artificial. Natural light is the light that comes from the sun or the sky, and it can create a soft, warm, and realistic look for your products. Artificial light is the light that comes from lamps, flashes, or other devices, and it can create a more controlled, consistent, and dramatic look for your products. Depending on your product type, style, and purpose, you can choose the light source that suits your needs and preferences.

The best light source is natural lighting. You have various kinds at different times, such as what's called the golden hour, different shadows at different times of the day. Artificial lighting is good with the right equipment (white boards, black boards, neutral boards)... and also post photo edits.
The second step is to use the right light modifiers to shape and soften the light that falls on your products. Light modifiers are devices that change the direction, intensity, or quality of the light source. Some common light modifiers are reflectors, diffusers, umbrellas, softboxes, and snoots. By using light modifiers, you can create different effects and moods for your products, such as highlighting the texture, color, or shape of your products, creating contrast and shadows, or adding drama and interest to your products.
The third step is to use the right light placement to position the light source and the light modifiers in relation to your products and the camera. Light placement can affect the angle, direction, and distance of the light that hits your products, and thus change the appearance and impression of your products.
