Agreement and a thorough understanding of the scope of work early on gives clients a clear understanding of what's included and what's not, and provides an easy way to gauge progress against goals. Setting client expectations becomes much easier with a scope to refer to, and any added or deleted features can be more easily considered for time and expense factors when you have a mutual point of reference.

Aqui temos o calcanhar de Aquiles da maioria, senão a totalidade, dos projetos. Escopo. Resultado direto da reunião inicial de entendimento. O conceito do escopo tem que estar detalhado no máximo detalhe, já que qualquer alteração implica diretamente em rever prazos, custos e qualidade da entrega. Atuar com o escopo fragmentado por sprint pode ser uma saída interessante para facilitar manobras de realinhamento. A probabilidade de errarmos no escopo é diretamente proporcional a seu tamanho e complexidade. Lembrando que complexidade é definida em conjunto (quando separados) entre time de produtos e time de engenharia.

At the beginning of the project you need to spend a lot of time in identifying the various phases and the time required by all the phases. Moreover you need to set priorities and give to the team the right time to do all the pahses.

In my experience, aligning expectations is key to client management and it is NOT just a one time thing but a constant need throughout the process. I suggest: ✔️ Start with a short discovery: Rarely the info the client first provides is complete or 100% accurate ✔️ Define scope: expected deliverables & current assumptions ✔️ Validate with the client and set the initial roadmap together. Document it ✔️ Establish an initial timeline: It MUST be estimated and validated WITH your team ✔️ Set frequent meetings with the client (mine are usually weekly), to review advance & assumptions ✔️ Keep doing discovery to adjust assumptions, scope, roadmap and timeline ✔️ Be always open & honest about feasibility and advance ✔️ Keep communications flowing
