How do you coordinate team roles for a successful pitch?

Being PREPARED is best solution for SMART founder's and can be done by knowing your target VC's like - - Investment thesis of VC: sectors, stage, cheque size etc - Read about some of their other investments in the same sector - connect with other entrepreneurs & reach out to VC through a referral - learn about different team members of that VC & target accordingly

FIRST Impression is the last Impression. Make your first interaction memorable for them by - - all co-founder's present in the meeting - be prepared for most commonly ask questions with some data and numbers - let the concerned person answer the queries related to their department - prepare a data room to give them data if they are seriously interested - be honest throughout

The best pitches I have seen are by the founder. Sometimes, if it is a technical company and the CEO is an outsider, the pitch can be better with two people. Some VCs tend to like pitches by two people, as this shows the company has a cohesive team. Less successful seem to be pitches by the CFO or CTO or CSO. Sometimes it makes sense for the CEO to pitch and a second person from the company to be there to take notes, or chime in only if needed.

PRACTICE makes one successful. Give your pitch best by - - read online about what pitch should contain - do background research about the target VC - be honest and humble - give practice pitch to your friends/ entrepreneurs/ other VC to get honest feedback - get feedback from the VC even if they reject to invest

Practice does not make you stale. It makes you smooth. Practice 3 times a day with everybody who will listen. And revise your deck many times. In my experience, the decks where VCs have said "this is one of the best decks I have ever seen" are ones that have undergone 20 revisions and are a distillation of a much longer, backup deck.

Good communication is the key to success which includes - - listen carefully what they asking & answer well - be honest, enthusiastic & curious throughout - connect the VC through your startup story and mission - carefully negotiate deal terms but don't fight

Once you pitch is refined and your presentation is second nature, then you can be listing for unspoken questions by the VC or for the question behind the question. As a founder, keep in mind that the VC may have one essential question that you will need to answer. And this question may not be explicitly asked. The opposite -- where the VC bombards you with very many questions -- you will be able to handle because of all your practice if you maintain your composure.

If a question came up that seems very significant, then by all means incorporate it into your deck. You can put the answer on the slide or work it into your presentation. Or if there is no great answer, you might think about listing it as one of the points to be derisked by the funds being raised in this round (i.e., if we knew the answer to that question, our valuation would be higher and we would be raising the next round now).
