How do you balance measuring metrics?

Having the right metrics enables to capture valuable insights for both stakeholders and the application team. This, in turn, facilitates the identification and alignment with our overarching objectives and goals, creating a feedback loop for constant evaluation, improvement, monitoring and highstandard delivery while staying true to Agile principles. Any metrics should be viewed constructively/optimistically to track the progress of people, project and applications periodically and systematically to perform effective management rather than micro managing and creating toxic workplace. Ex:Burndown chart-The primary purpose is to help the team identify potential obstacles and take timely action & not to create a pressure of ideal burndown

In my experience, the metrics should be used as pointers providing overall indicators of the health of the agile team. However, overemphasizing agile metrics such as team velocity can directly impact the quality of the product or the value it could bring to customers. So it's always a trade-off.

When determining what’s important, think about what data will help you make decisions on what’s working, what’s not working, what to do more of, what to stop doing and what to modify. When you know this information and collect it regularly in a timely manner you will be equipped to make powerful decisions based on data, not opinion. A caution is important to share. Don’t get too caught up in your engineering nerd analytics passion. There is an optimization of just the right data and the frequency of looking at it, and so much data that nothing gets done.
