One aspect that gets lost in servant leadership with regards to goals is when one doesn’t meet the goals in a timely manner. A few criteria need be addressed. Is the failure due to lack of resources provided; misplaced talent (are we asking too much or do they lack the experience); or, unfair expectations. We often forget the commitment to the one hired to do all we can to walk them through what we are seeing and only part ways with a mutually agreed understanding. Investing in each hire takes time energy, and sacrifice - much of which we may not see as immediate ROI, but will reap in time.

While how one conducts themselves to achieve goals may not work for another however, it gives others some added input on ways they may be able to improve their skills in that specific area.

In my experience working for the government, when I receive comments from customers (good or bad) I make it a point to respond whether they request one or not. I always want to share how I can or maybe cannot assist with the request. However, if I cannot assist, I conduct research and point them in the needed direction. If the comments are bad, I will look at ways to improve the issues that were touched on from the customers.
