There is often a concern over what will be gained and lost as a result of the merger. It's easy to focus on what will be gained and how it will benefit customers, the company and employees (the triple win!), but it's also important to address the loss. It could be a loss of autonomy, team dynamics and norms, responsibilities or a multitude of other factors. Address what you can and be transparent about what still needs to be resolved. Manage the change to the point where you can provide as much information and clarity as possible for those directly impacted by changes as a result of the merger or acquisition in advance.
