I was a Mentee many times. Often I didn't know I was. At least one time I became mentor myself intentionally to a person that was not even in my organization. For me it was always 50/50. Sharing my knowledge and what I learned from the past. However, I also learned so many things on how I can teach others better, gather different perspectives and also to disconfirm my beliefs. Especially, persons who are not in your direct reporting line can refresh your own knowledge and views.
