It leads to toxicity and significant cost. But then there is conflict that results in better value and improved outcomes. The key to success here is to leverage built-in conflict that leads to improvements, while resolving conflicts leading to loss of trust and bonding swiftly. In either case, being open about the conflict, tackling the other side with respect and understanding, and engaging in negotiation and dialog, are productive ways of dealing with conflicts.
