Detail activity planning and allocating the required input is critical to facilitate smooth project implementation. We ensure successful project delivery by fully complying with the program requirements detailed in the plan, including the conditions for how they will be met. When we plan thoroughly, we have a map that directs our efforts to milestone deliverables on a committed schedule with the necessary resources. The expertise and know-how of the Program Manager and the team members, along with the plan and program governance determine how we execute the program, and how we overcome changes or obstacles along the way. Without a plan in place, we are left without direction, increasing the risk of missing deadlines, exceeding budgets, and failing to meet project requirements, ultimately jeopardizing the project's success.

Anticipate potential issues that could derail your project (scope creep, resource constraints). Analyze the likelihood and severity of each risk. Prioritize based on potential damage. Craft plans to minimize the impact of identified risks. This might involve having backup resources or creating contingency plans. Regularly monitor risks and adjust mitigation plans as needed throughout the project lifecycle.

While preparing mitigation strategies for risk mitigation, ensure clear ownership and accountability (RACI matrix) is identified and communicated. One of the key risks in potential budget overrun and needs a special mention and attention.

Leading teams informally involves a bit of a personal touch. I have minimal input on your appraisal however I can influence you through other ways. For example, I can find out what motivates you and leverage that to encourage you to do your part to bring the project to a successful end. Often times, there may be something standing in the way of an individual doing their part, and as a PM, I need to find out what's happening in your worlds so I can remove that impediment.
