It is key to develop a project plan that is comprehensive. Beyond that, in the plan, i tend to incorporate holidays and leaves for all the members. Added to this, there is generally a scope leak for most projects. Planning for this well in advance, mostly takes care of WBS. That being said, when there is pressure to complete a project, I also have a discussion with the team about having to stretch for the duration to ensure that timelines are met. Get acceptance from team members well in advance so that there are no surprises. IT is most important to identify important milestones and the dependencies they might have with other project tasks. Don't lose sight of OKRs and you should be fine.
